Heather Nauert is a seasoned public affairs strategist with extensive experience advising corporate and government leaders on high-stakes policy and crisis communications. She serves on the Advisory Board of BGR Group and counsels organizations advancing U.S. national security, including the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, Spirit of America, and CNAS. From 2017 to 2019, she was Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, shaping foreign policy messaging under Secretaries Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo, coordinating global communications, and leading engagement on major initiatives from North Korea to prisoner releases.

Appointed Acting Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in 2018, she oversaw several bureaus advancing U.S. diplomacy and exchange programs. A former journalist with nearly 20 years reporting from global hotspots, Heather also mentors emerging leaders through fellowships at Georgetown and national service programs. She is a proud advocate for combat veterans and serves on the Warrior and Quiet Waters advisory board.
