Jacob Helberg

Jacob Helberg is an experienced leader in technology policy, international affairs, and national security. As a technology leader, he has proven to be an adept coalition builder who can deliver major policy victories. Helberg serves as Commissioner on the U.S.-China Economic & Security Review Commission (USCC), which advises the Congress and Senate on laws and policies that span all areas of the U.S.-China relationship. Helberg is the author of The Wires of War: Technology and the Global Struggle for Power (Simon & Schuster, October 2021), which argued for a far more muscular American strategy to counter China’s efforts to dominate the world’s most strategic technologies.

From 2016 to early 2020, he was Google’s global lead for the company’s largest product: the Google Search bar. Prior to joining Google, Helberg was a member of the founding team of GeoQuant, a geopolitical risk forecasting technology company acquired by Fitch Ratings. He received his M.S. in cybersecurity risk and strategy from New York University.
