Brianne Todd

Brianne Todd is a Professor of the Practice of Central Asian Studies, focusing on U.S. policy and regional security issues. In addition to developing and delivering curriculum related to the countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan), she regularly lectures on the region and advises U.S. and foreign officials about geopolitical dynamics and security cooperation.
From 2023–2025, Professor Todd served as the Director of Central Asian Affairs at the National Security Council, where she managed U.S. policy for the region across the diplomatic, economic, defense, and intelligence lines of effort. Prior to the NSC, Todd was detailed to the U.S. Department of State and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, where she was recognized for her work on Central Asia and Afghanistan.
Todd is a Lifetime Member of the Central Eurasian Studies Society and active in various professional organizations, including the Oxus Society for Central Asian Affairs, the Women’s Foreign Policy Group, and Women in Defense.
